The Best Free Canva Cursive Fonts

Creating a design and trying to find a script or cursive font on Canva that’s just right?

It can be REALLY hard to find a good natural handwriting or calligraphy style font in the long, long list on Canva that checks the boxes of being high quality and full of personality.

Today I’m sharing a list of the best free cursive fonts on Canva that you can start using in your designs today!

I hope this list of my Canva font picks saves you time and helps beautify your next Canva graphic design project. If you’re looking for more Canva font inspiration, check out my other Canva font guides:

What is the best handwriting font in Canva?

If you need a font on Canva to look like handwriting, look no further! These are great for adding a personal touch to your design, whether it’s a signature at the bottom of an about page, an Instagram story, or a recipe card. Brittany is one of the most popular cursive fonts I see out in the wild but I also love the texture of the Breathing font.

  • Amsterdam (This includes Amsterdam One, Two, Three, and Four)

  • Breathing

  • Brittany

  • Feeling Passionate

  • Halimum

  • Holiday

  • Homemade Apple

  • Jimmy Script

  • Moontime

  • The Youngest Script

  • Vintage Goods

Canva cursive fonts with a more “perfect” look

I grouped these Canva fonts together because they are cursive but have a more computer-generated feel than the more organic handwritten style options I shared in the previous section. I recommend using these for headlines, not body text.

  • Apricots

  • Daydream

  • Howell

  • JA Jayagiri Script

  • Nickainley

  • Sacramento

  • Twister

  • Anastasia Script

  • Le Jour Script

  • Malibu

  • Pinyon Script

  • Russkopis

  • Sloop Script Pro

Design Guidelines for Using Cursive Fonts in Canva

For the best results using cursive fonts in Canva, follow the guidelines below:

  • Avoid using all caps

  • Don’t add spacing between the letters

  • Remember: the goal is to emulate natural handwriting, so use that as a guide for how you would naturally write.

  • Handwritten and cursive fonts work best when used as a heading style. Avoid using cursive text for large chunks of body copy.

What is the best cursive font in Canva?

The best thing about design is that it’s all about creative expression: whatever you love IS the best font! However, from a design point of view, here’s what goes into what makes the best cursive font in Canva. This is the criteria I used to choose all the Canva fonts featured in this article.

  • A good cursive font should be legible, especially when used in a digital environment. Make sure it is readable at various sizes when you’re comparing your options. Something with too many loops and flourishes might not be readable. Similarly, a thin delicate Canva cursive font might be pretty, but hard to read on a screen. A good exercise to keep in mind is imagine someone viewing the font on a pin on a mobile device. Will they be able to quickly tell what it is and be drawn in? If so, you’ve got a winner.

  • Check how the letters are connected. The key to mimicking hand written or cursive style fonts is having a style that emulates something a real person would write! That means that the connections between each letter should flow together seamlessly without any breaks or lines that don’t match up.
