5 Killer Lead Magnet Ideas for Coaches and Consultants

Something every successful coaching business needs?

An organized inbox. Coffee. And a lead magnet.

As a coach or consultant, you know the value of attracting and new clients. One way to do this is by offering a lead magnet for your audience.

A lead magnet is basically any free resource that attracts potential clients and gets them on your email list. In this blog post, I'll share five different formats of lead magnet ideas for coaches and some ideas to get the ball rolling. Let’s dive in!

Idea #1: A Free Consultation or Strategy Session

One lead magnet idea for coaches and consultants is to offer a free consultation or strategy session. This can be a great way to introduce yourself and your services to potential clients, and it gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise and value. You could offer a 30-minute consultation via phone or video call, or you could create a series of email templates that walk people through a self-guided strategy session.

If you’re active on TikTok, many people do this by using Calendly to make appointment scheduling a breeze. I’ve tested it out and the UI is super slick! Squarespace also has built in scheduling tools through Acuity, but those come at a cost so I’d recommend Calendy to get started.

Idea #2: A Checklist or Worksheet

Another lead magnet idea is to create a checklist or worksheet that helps your audience solve a specific problem. For example, you could create a checklist that helps people define their niche, or you could create a worksheet that helps people identify their unique selling proposition.

Checklists and worksheets are easy to create and are a great way to provide value to potential clients. They can be as simple as a single page PDF with your branding on it! I recommend using Canva for this.

Idea #3: A Video Training or Webinar

A video training or webinar can be a more in-depth lead magnet for coaches that provides more value to potential clients. You could create a video training on a specific topic related to your coaching or consulting services, or you could host a live webinar where you cover a particular problem or solution. Video trainings and webinars can be a great way to establish yourself as an expert in your field and build trust with potential clients.

Idea #4: An Ebook or Guide

An ebook or guide is another option for a lead magnet that provides more in-depth value to potential clients. You could create an ebook on a particular topic related to your coaching or consulting services, or you could create a guide that walks people through a specific process or solution.

Keep in mind that you want your lead magnet to provide a ton of value, but not to veer into the paid category. Remember, the goal of a lead magnet is to attract leads that ultimately sell the other offers in your business. Let me explain.

Let’s say you are a social media consultant who sells audits and 1:1 consultations. Your target audience is likely someone who is interested in starting or growing their audience and needs help with social media. You could offer a lead magnet like “25 Hooks to Capture Your Audience’s Attention” to get them started.

This will be super valuable to their pain points as a content creator and will also help establish your authority and knowledge. This also helps create stronger trust in you and can pave the way to them purchasing one of your paid offers related to social media.

Idea #5: A Quiz Lead Magnet

A quiz can be a fun and interactive lead magnet that helps potential clients learn more about themselves and how you can help them. These have become super popular lately and I’ve been thinking about creating one myself! One of the biggest benefits is not only do you help your audience, you gain valuable insights based on what their answers are.

You could create a quiz that helps people determine their coaching or consulting needs, or you could create an assessment that helps people identify their strengths and weaknesses. Quizzes and assessments can be a great way to engage potential clients and get them thinking about how you can help them.

If you’re looking at how to get started with a quiz lead magnet, Ashlyn Writes has a great article outlining how she has created a successful quiz for her business.
